1) Warm up engine to operating temperature (>160°f).
2) Drain engine oil for a minimum (at Least) of 30 minutes.
3) It’s usually a good practice to measure the amount of engine oil drained from the engine just to confirm the previous fill level, but please note: this isn’t indicative of the correct amount of engine oil filling capacity.
NOTE: (If allowed, remove engine oil pan to check for presence of the engine PWM oil pump to AOS system pipe O-Ring).
4) Replace engine oil filter, factory genuine oil filter preferred.
NOTE: (If allowed, inspect engine oil filter for the presence of Plastic, Rubber and or Metal debris – Check metal with magnet to see if debris ferrous).
5) Refill engine with 6 quarts of oil (7 Quarts if the oil pan sum plate has been removed. Normally you will see between 6 and 7 quarts drained. Much more isn’t normal and usually indicates a previous over-fill).
6) Start engine, immediately inspect for any oil leaks.
7) Test drive car.
8) When back in the workshop, monitor engine oil temperature with the PIWIS-2 tester, when the engine reaches 90°C, perform engine “oil filling process”, adjust engine oil level as necessary. It is imperative that the engine oil does not get overfilled.
9) Reset engine oil service maintenance monitoring system with PIWIS-2.
NOTE: It’s best one not attempt to perform an oil service on a modern Porsche without the use of a PIWIS-2 or Autologic tester. Unless in the rare case you can utilize an oil level measurement mechanical device (Dipstick tool).
