1) Run controller interrogation – check these items and print all:
a) Any/All fault codes (MOST any DME fault code can cancel the procedure).
b) Engine over-revs (NO range #1 or Range 4-6 over-revs allowed).
c) Valve train inconsistencies – Deviation= Actual vs. nominal (MAX 4.5°).
d) Check DME Operating hours (take DME hours and multiply by 30 MPH Average).
e) Check OBD-II monitors for ready status (shows whether CEL has been recently reset).
2) Perform Crankcase Manometer test and document results.
3) Check over car complete, perform vehicle safety inspection, and listen to engine to determine overall condition. Inspect for any engine and/or gearbox oil and/or coolant leaks and document.
4) Remove engine oil filter, cut open and inspect for ANY debris.
5) Drain engine oil and inspect how engine oil looks while draining, inspect engine oil drain plug closely. Remove engine oil sump plate, inspect for ANY debris
6) Remove Gearbox/Transmission.
7) Remove flex-plate/clutch and flywheel assembly, inspect (measure & check) clutch and flywheel assemblies, if applicable.
8) Put engine at Top Dead Center (TDC) for #1 cylinder, install factory tool locking pin in crankshaft pulley.
9) Remove camshaft end plugs & install camshaft jig timing assemblies on both banks.
10) Remove bank #1 and IMS chain tensioners.
11) Remove IMS flange assembly with factory tool, carefully inspect seal sealing surface (race O.D.). Replace triple lip seal.
12) Replace all 4 accessible (rear of engine) engine case bolts with factory micro-encapsulated bolts and clean engine bell housing area IF performing RMS-GMS procedure.
13) Replace engine rear crankshaft seal (RMS) with updated PTFE type seal. (Please note: Utilize the latest- factory installation tool, do not touch the inner lip of the seal with your bare fingers because the acid on your hands will deteriorate the seal surface). Replace Gearbox main-shaft seal, IF APPROVED FOR RMS-GMS PROCEDURE.
14) Check engine crankshaft to crankcase with genuine tool 9699/1 (Go-No Go tool).
15) Remove IMS bearing seal.
16) Re-assemble in reverse order. Replace 4 camshaft end plugs, all flywheel & pressure plate fasteners with new parts-no sealant required for cam end plugs; clean all oil off of seal mating surfaces. Install schnorr washers on pressure plate bolts.
17) Remove DFI relay and build engine oil pressure by simply cranking the starter. (Crank for 10 seconds twice with a 10 second break in between, do not overheat starter). Connect power supply beforehand.
18) Keep at idle and load low when engine first starts, monitor closely for any strange noises or leaks. Recheck camshaft deviation values after vehicle has been driven (Please note: Camshaft valves are an adapted value).
