Callas Rennsport Porsche Engine Oil Directive
All 356’s and 912’s
911’s 1965 – 1983
Even though synthetic engine oil is best for anti-wear properties and engine life; conventional oil can be best due to the age and type of rubber Seals and O-rings.
Keep in mind that you do not want to just introduce a synthetic lubricant into an engine that has only run conventional oil.
If the engine has updated the Silicone and/or Viton Seals and O-rings, a synthetic lubricant can be utilized, keep in mind Driven GP-1, it is a synthetic blend!
Since it’s hard to confirm which Seals and O-rings the engine has; conventional engine oil is the safe choice.
Also keep in mind that the engine milage helps determine this decision; do not utilize a synthetic lubricant in an older higher mileage engine.
We recommend the following brands and viscosities:
15w-50, 20w-50:
Driven HR & GP-1
Motul Classic

911’s 1984 – 1998 (911 Carrera, 959, 964 and 993)
These engines can easily handle synthetic lubricants, but only if it was previously introduced to it.
It is imperative that a lower viscosity lubricant not be utilized especially in the 993.
We recommend the following brands and viscosities:
15w-50, 20w-50
